BELLE OF THE BAR

The Americans dominated the afternoon qualifying for women's gymnastics, but Britain's athletes got the loudest cheers.

An ovation greeted Britain's Beth Tweddle, who earned a 16.133 on the uneven bars for the top score of the session.

"I was nervous," she admitted later. "It was nerve-wracking to do the bars last."

Tweddle, at 27, is the oldest member of the team and Britain's most decorated gymnast. She's never won an Olympic medal, however.

Her performance Sunday helped Britain make the team finals, four years after they missed the last slot at the Beijing Games.

"We know we're not going to be able to touch USA, Russia, China," Tweddle said. "We are the level below them. Four years ago, we wouldn't be looking at that, so we are getting better."

Seattle reaches police reform deal with government

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Seattle officials and the Department of Justice reached a sweeping agreement on Friday to refine the use of force by police officers under a plan to be overseen by an independent, court-appointed monitor.

The settlement, which grew out of a federal investigation of the city's police department, will allow the city to avoid a civil rights lawsuit that U.S. officials threatened to bring over complaints of excessive force by officers.

Such a lawsuit would have put Seattle, considered one of the most liberal cities in the nation, among only a handful of municipalities singled out for police misconduct lawsuits by the federal government.

Instead, Seattle police will operate under a far-reaching plan that covers use of force, police stops and work bias.

The city's police were criticized in 2010 for the shooting death of an American-Indian woodcarver who appeared to pose no threat. A Department Of Justice report in December 2011 said Seattle police in the previous two years had displayed a pattern of using excessive force.

The agreement, which followed months of negotiations between city officials and the U.S. government, calls for both sides to jointly select a monitor within 60 days to oversee implementation of the plan.

"Today the real work begins, the agreement we have reached belongs to everyone in Seattle," said U.S. Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez, head of the Justice Department's civil rights division.

"I come here with a very deep reservoir of optimism."

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn said he was pleased with the deal. "This city is committed to eliminating bias," he said. "We do have a lot of work ahead of us."

The American Civil Liberties Union of Washington state in 2010 asked the Justice Department to probe Seattle police, citing a half-dozen incidents of excessive force, particularly against minorities. In one case, video showed a Latino man lying prone on the sidewalk when he was kicked, the group said.

FIVE-YEAR TERM

The agreement is expected to last five years, but the city may ask the federal court to terminate it before that date if Seattle's police department have been complying with it for two years, McGinn's office said.

Under the plan, the department will revise its use of force policies and enhance training, reporting and supervision, Justice Department officials said. It will also develop a team that will roll out to probe serious uses of force.

Officials will also create a civilian oversight board called the Community Police Commission. And the police department will provide guidance to officers to prohibit stops of people when officers lack reasonable suspicion.

Talks on a settlement had bogged down over the anticipated costs of implementing a Justice Department proposal, which a city memorandum estimated would run roughly $41 million for the first year alone.

The memorandum had described those expenses, including $18 million to develop and implement training programs and $11 million for new city positions, as "prohibitive."

McGinn declined on Friday to give an exact cost for implementation of the plan, but said he estimates it could be $5 million a year.

The settlement followed voluntary police reform pacts in recent years with several other big cities, including Los Angeles, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Several other large municipal police forces remain under federal review.

On Tuesday, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder placed the New Orleans Police Department, accused of widespread abuses, under the scrutiny of a federal monitor for at least four years.

The Ergonomics of Stress Management {Guest Post}

Four elements to help distress your body and mind at the office

Work can be a stressful place to be?especially if your workplace is uncomfortable or taking a toll on your physically and mental health. It?s a sad reality that oftentimes the physical environments we work in our toxic to our health. Aspects of our workplace, such as uncomfortable seating, poor lighting, rigid desks, poor back support, and repetitive stress from typing and sitting at a computer all day long can really take their toll on our bodies and minds.

Even home offices are often delegated to common areas of the home?like the dining room table or a cramped basement office that offers poor lighting and seating with little back, neck, and shoulder support.
The following four ergonomic office tips will help distress your body and mind at work

1. Buy an ergonomic office chair
Do what I did in my home office and buy an Eames chair or another type of desk chair that?s designed to support your back, neck, and shoulders when you sit for long periods of the day. If you?re a desk monkey like me (aka: you spend 8 hours or more a day, five days a week, seated in your office chair) it must be comfortable. Skimping out on an office chair can wreak havoc on your body?for instance, the repetitive stress and poor posture over the long term can cause back pain, nerve damage, poor circulation, muscle fatigue, and poor circulation to your legs and extremities. That?s why it?s imperative above all else to own a office chair that provides generous support and cushioning to the back, neck and shoulders as well as good lumbar support that promotes the natural curve and alignment of your back. Look for a chair that:
  • Offers proper cushioning to support your lower back, neck and shoulders
  • Provides a wide enough seat pan for your thighs
  • Can adjust and allow your legs to bend at the knees bend at a 90-degree angle so your feet rest flat on the floor
2. Buy an ergonomic keyboard
Your keyboard directly impacts the placement of your hands, wrists and forearms, which, if uncomfortable and unsupported over the long term can leave you with sore wrists and even carpel tunnel syndrome. To prevent injury, buy a keyboard that?s easily adjustable so that your hands, wrists, and forearms sit in a natural position. You can even find keyboards with cushioning to support your wrists. You will know your wrists are properly aligned if:
  • Your wrists lie flat on the keyboard
  • Your fingers gently and naturally curve
  • Your elbows bend 90-degress and sit flat at a comfortable, natural angle
3. Adjust the height of your computer
You might do this with an adjustable desk orcomputer monitor?or a bit of both?but the height of your computer screen can really place stress on your neck if it?s too high or too low. The top of your computer screen should meet you at eye level when you sit in your chair and maintain good posture.

4. Lighting should be natural?not harsh
Harsh, fluorescent lighting can create headaches, tension and anxiety for you without you even knowing it. And sitting under harsh, sterile, fluorescent lighting all day long can wreak your eyes and your productivity. So choose lighting that?s close to natural lighting and easy on the eyes, and use warm light from desk lamps to spot light darkly lit office areas.

Christians persecuted by Muslims | Reporting on the Middle East ...

U.S.-backed rebels are committing Christian genocide in Syria, where they are sacking churches and issuing threats that all Christians will be cleansed from rebel-held territory. A mass exodus of thousands of Christians is taking place, even as mainstream Western reporters like Robert Fisk demonize those same Christians for being supportive of the secular regime.

The bloody jihad waged against Nigeria?s Christians, which has seen hundreds killed this year alone, now includes plans to kill Christians with poisoned food, as part of the Islamic organization Boko Haram?s stated goal of purging Nigeria of all Christian presence.

During Egypt?s presidential elections, Al Ahram reported that "the Muslim Brotherhood blockaded entire streets, prevented Copts from voting at gunpoint, and threatened Christian families not to let their children go out and vote" for the secular candidate.

Meanwhile, under President Obama, the U.S. State Department, in an unprecedented move, purged the sections dealing with religious persecution from its recently released Country Reports on Human Rights. Likewise, the Obama administration insists that the Nigerian crisis has nothing to do with religion, even as Obama offered his hearty blessings to Egypt?s Muslim Brotherhood president, in the midst of allegations of electoral fraud.

Categorized by theme, June?s assemblage of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed in alphabetical order by country, not severity.

Church Attacks

Egypt: Because many visitors were in attendance, Muslims surrounded a Coptic church during Divine Liturgy "demanding that the visiting Copts leave the church before the completion of prayers, and threatening to burn down the church if their demand was not met." The priest contacted police asking for aid only to be told to comply with their demands, "and do not let buses with visitors to come to the church anymore." Christian worshippers exited halfway through liturgy to jeers outside. As they drove away, Muslims hurled stones at their buses. Also, repairs to a Coptic church that was torched and gutted a year ago by rioting Muslims were woefully inadequate, leaving the congregation with a staggering debt from further necessary repairs.

Indonesia: A Muslim mob of 300 wrecked a store that was being used for a Sunday church service on the pretext that it had not obtained "permission to hold Mass." The mob wrecked the first floor of the store, breaking windows and damaging furniture. Police stopped them before reaching the third floor, where some 60 Christians had congregated. None of the Muslims were arrested, although 12 Christians were taken into custody for questioning. Separately, in compliance to calls by Islamic clerics, authorities ordered 20 churches to be torn down, following the closure of 16 smaller Christian places of worship in the same district last month. The congregations continue to hold services inside their sealed-off buildings as other members stand guard outside.

Iran: Authorities ordered the closure of yet another church in the capital, Tehran, "amid a government campaign to crack down on the few recognized churches offering Farsi-speaking services," according to a human rights group. The church originally served Assyrian background Christian members; however, "due to an increasing number of Farsi-speaking believers?mostly MBBs [Muslim Background Believers]?it [the church] has become a cause of concern for the authorities and they now ordered it to shut down."

Kashmir: A 119-year-old church was torched by Muslims. The local bishop "said that the Muslim fundamentalists want Christians to leave the state? He said that the church had filed a case with the police but had been advised not to ?play up? such incidents." Christian minorities "are coming under growing threat from Kashmir?s Muslim majority. A Christian human rights group in India said that over 400 Christians have been displaced as a result."

Kazakhstan: Land use regulations are being exploited "as a means to prevent religious communities and their members exercising freedom of religion or belief." Most recently, authorities "forced a Methodist church to ?voluntarily? close and fined the wife of the Church?s Pastor, who further paid for an announcement in newspapers saying the church was ?liquidating itself,?" simply because "We do not want more punishment from the authorities."

Nigeria: Islamic militants attacked several churches during every Sunday of the month with bombs and guns killing dozens of Christian worshippers, and critically wounding hundreds, including many children. Growing numbers of Christians "dare not" attend church services anymore, even as reports suggest that some police are intentionally abandoning their watch prior to such attacks.

Sudan: Authorities bulldozed two church buildings to the ground and confiscated three Catholic schools, as a response to the secession of South Sudan in July 2011, saying that such buildings are associated with now unwelcome, largely Christian South Sudanese in the Islamic-ruled country. Another church building belonging to the Full Gospel Church was destroyed in the same area two months ago, also on the claim that it belonged to South Sudanese.

Turkmenistan: An Evangelical church in the Muslim-majority nation was raided by authorities: "All adult believers at the meeting were questioned about their faith and all of their Christian literature was confiscated." Their literature was returned two weeks later.

Apostasy, Blasphemy, Proselytism

Egypt: A Christian student handing out Christian literature in Assuit University "raised the ire of Muslim students," resulting in clashes on campus, "amid shouts of sectarian chants," leading to many injuries. Likewise, a Salafi leader declared on Egyptian TV that Muslims have no right "to convert to Christianity."

Iran: Five months after five Christian converts were arrested, their condition and fate remain unknown. They are accused of "attending house church services, promoting Christianity, propagating against the regime and disturbing national security." Being imprisoned for 130 days without word "is an obvious example of physical and mental abuse of the detainees?. one of the prison guards openly told one of these Christian detainees that all these pressures and uncertainties are intended to make them flee the country after they are released." Also, a young Iranian woman, who recently converted to Christianity and was an outspoken activist against the Islamic regime, was found dead, slumped over her car?s steering wheel, with a single gunshot wound to her head.

Pakistan: A banned Islamic group filed a blasphemy case against a 25-year-old mentally retarded Christian man. Muslims had converted him to Islam two years earlier, to use him as a pretext to annex his Christian village. In the words of a witness: "These people (Muslims) do not let us live. We are poor but are working hard to survive. On the night of the incidence a mob of Muslim clerics gathered [around] our colony to burn us all because of the blasphemy Ramzan [the retarded man] committed. Everyone was very scared. We all have small children in our houses and we didn?t know what to do. The mob surrounded our colony and raised a slogan to burn all the houses, they had torches in their hands and petrol in the cans. We called police and thank God police arrived just in time.

Saudi Arabia: Thirty-five Ethiopian Christians arrested in December for praying in a private home remain jailed, even as Saudi officials offer contradicting reasons for their arrest. Meanwhile, they have been beaten and subjected to interrogations and strip searches. Saudi Arabia formally bans all religions other than Islam. However, in 2006, Saudi authorities told the United States that they would "guarantee and protect the right to private worship for all, including non-Muslims who gather in homes for religious practice."

Sudan: A Muslim woman divorced her husband, a convert to Christianity, causing the court automatically to grant her custody of their two sons. When the father tried to visit his children, his wife threatened to notify authorities. "They might take the case to a prosecution court, which might lead to my sentencing to death according to Islamic apostasy law?but I am ready for this," said the Christian. "I want the world to know this. What crime have I done? Is it because I became a Christian? I know if the world is watching, they [Sudanese authorities] will be afraid to do any harm to me."

United States: Two Christian men in Saint Louis, Missouri received death threats from Iran?s Islamic Revolutionary Guard, apparently for converting to Christianity and preaching it. One of the men formerly served in the Revolutionary Guard and was once even assigned a suicide mission against Israel, before converting and immigrating to the U.S. "The two men believe that Islam is a religion that could easily radicalize a Muslim into a terrorist." Likewise, in Dearborn Michigan, Christian demonstrators exercising their free speech rights were stoned by Muslims shouting "Allahu Akbar!"

Dhimmitude

[General Abuse, Debasement, and Suppression of Non-Muslims as "Tolerated" Citizens]

Indonesia: "The number of violations of Christians? religious rights in Indonesia reached 40 in the first five months of the year, nearly two-thirds the amount of anti-Christian actions in all of last year," according to the Jakarta Christian Communication Forum. The Christian minority in Indonesia faced 64 cases of violations of religious freedom last year, up from 47 in 2010." Violence against Christians also increased.

Mali: "Islamists in control of northern Mali are enforcing a strict version of Sharia law that victimizes Christians, women and other vulnerable groups." The radicals took control of northern Mali in April after ousting the armed forces of the government. "All the Christians have left Timbuktu (the main city in north Mali) because of the Sharia law as well as because of the presence of people linked with al-Qaeda," said a Christian leader who fled from northern Mali.

Pakistan: Police are siding with the Muslims accused of beating a pregnant Christian woman, causing her to miscarriage twins, and gang-raping her 13-year-old Christian niece. "Muslim criminals believe police and courts will give little credence to the complaints of Christians in the country, which is nearly 96 percent Muslim," adds the report. The Christian family is "paying a huge price for being poor ? and for being Christian," said the uncle: "What can we expect from the police when they are not paying heed even to the court orders? They are distorting facts and have even gone to the extent of accusing a 13-year-old [raped girl] of committing adultery with three men." Another Christian politician?s ID mistook him for a Muslim, causing him to insist "on the floor of the Punjab Assembly that he was born a Christian and appealed to them and the media not to indulge in propaganda against him that could incite Muslim extremists to kill him."

South Africa: More than 70 students were kicked out of the Coastal KZN As-Salaam campus dormitories and are currently homeless, because campus officials tried to make them observe Islam, including by banning Bibles, which the students resisted. "All we wanted was to be free to practice our own religions and not be forced to follow Islam, but now we have been punished by being deprived of safe accommodation," said one student.

Turkey: Thousands of devout Muslims prayed outside Hagia Sophia?formerly Christendom?s greatest cathedral now a museum?shouting, "Allahu Akbar!" and demanding the building be opened as a mosque in honor of the jihadi sultan who conquered Constantinople in the 15th century.

About this Series

Because the persecution of Christians in the Islamic world is on its way to reaching epidemic proportions, "Muslim Persecution of Christians" was developed to collate some?by no means all?of the instances of persecution that surface each month. It serves two purposes:

  1. Intrinsically, to document that which the mainstream media does not: the habitual, if not chronic, Muslim persecution of Christians.
  2. Instrumentally, to show that such persecution is not "random," but systematic and interrelated?that it is rooted in a worldview inspired by Sharia.

Accordingly, whatever the anecdote of persecution, it typically fits under a specific theme, including hatred for churches and other Christian symbols; apostasy and blasphemy laws; sexual abuse of Christian women; forced conversions to Islam; theft and plunder in lieu of jizya (tribute); overall expectations for Christians to behave like cowed "dhimmis" (barely tolerated citizens); and simple violence and murder. Oftentimes it is a combination thereof.

Because these accounts of persecution span different ethnicities, languages, and locales?from Morocco in the west, to India in the east, and throughout the West, wherever there are Muslims?it should be clear that one thing alone binds them: Islam?whether the strict application of Islamic Sharia law, or the supremacist culture born of it.

(AP) ? "A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!" comes the cry from one of Shakespeare's great characters. King Richard III would have had his plea answered at these Olympics.

While it's often said that Britons are very good at seated sports ? think rowing and cycling ? this is shaping up to be the year of the horse at the London Olympics. Among the highest profiles are the queen's granddaughter, Zara Phillips, who is competing for Britain in three-day eventing, and a horse co-owned by Ann Romney, the wife of U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, which is taking part in the dressage competition.

And there is no better place that this (United) Kingdom to focus on the equine world. Every morning, the dust of Rotten Row, a sweeping dirt path in London's Hyde Park, rises from the patter of cascading hooves. Venerable steeds from the queen's military regiments are practicing so they can glitter at Royal Weddings carrying uniformed riders wearing shiny tasseled helmets.

Then there are horses that support the Household Cavalry's massive drums. Achilles and Mercury are not only known by name, but hold the rank of major when on parade. How can you not love that?

British eventing team competitor Mary King hopes the high visibility of the British riders will encourage more people to take up riding throughout the country.

"We hope this will get more bums back in the saddle," said King, a decorated Olympian competing in her sixth games.

First and foremost in this calculation is Phillips, the 31-year old daughter of Princess Anne who won a berth on the British Olympic equestrian team after a series of blistering performances on the country's rain slogged courses this year. Phillips, the 14th in line to the British throne, will draw cameras from around the world to the equestrian venue at Greenwich.

And if that weren't enough, her very famous relatives might be spotted in the grandstand ? cousin Prince William and his photogenic wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Phillips competes in three-day eventing, a grueling sport that combines the disciplines of dressage, show jumping and cross country. She rides High Kingdom, a 16.2 hands high (5-foot-6-inch) bay gelding.

And then there's Rafalca, the 15-year-old mare owned by Ann Romney, being ridden by Jan Ebeling of the U.S. dressage team.

The Romney/Rafalca duo has proved to be a godsend to Republican critics. Comedian Stephen Colbert has lampooned dressage as the sport of the well-to-do ? but at least he noticed it. Rafalca has also been a gift to American equestrian writers, who suddenly find dressage on Page One, rather than in the Olympic stats section.

Princess Haya, the head of the international equestrian federation, FEI, told the AP in an email that her sport has more than just outstanding athletes and horses.

"What makes equestrian sport truly exceptional however is not the participation of athletes who may be famous by virtue of their status; it is the magic that is created by the perfect harmony of horse and rider," she wrote. "Horses do not understand titles or connections. ... Equestrian sport is one where men and women, the young and the not so young, the disabled and the able-bodied compete together, and where the horse is the great equalizer."

Riding is also truly a life-long sport.

Japanese dressage rider Hiroshi Hoketsu, who turned 71, is the oldest athlete at this summer's Olympic Games. He first competed in 1964 in his home city of Tokyo.

Another remarkable example is Ian Millar, who first competed at the Olympics 40 years ago, in Munich in 1972. This summer the 65-year-old "Captain Canada" will be making his 10th Olympic appearance.

But will young people flock to the stables, hoping to ride like Zara? Will the little girls who ride ponies in Hyde Park ? helmets strapped around the chin, boots tucked into stirrups ? become big girls who chase medals at the next Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and beyond?

Not necessarily, says Stephen Greyser, a Harvard University professor who has long studied the games.

Greyser said while there's plenty of evidence to suggest that non-famous people who rocket to the fore at the Olympics sometimes make others interested in their sport, there's little evidence it works the other way around.

He cited the example of snowboarder Shaun White, aka the "Flying Tomato," who secured back-to-back Olympic gold medals in halfpipe and drew people to the sport because of his fluid grace on the snow as well as his shock of long red hair.

But Greyser said the media are attracted to celebrities themselves, not necessarily their sport.

"I think a famous person has an opportunity to draw attention, but not necessarily to turn an entire sport into something more popular," he said.

Still, half the lenses on the planet will probably be turned on Phillips rather soon.

"But that's more a media thing," he said.

Debts Management Programs and Services | Dallas Business

Most debt management programs will give you credit counseling services, helping you build a new budget and spending plan in order to avoid you from sinking back into debts again. Others leave the budgeting process under your control. The common factor in all debt management services is that they can receive one large monthly payment and break it down into smaller payments to disperse to every single creditor or lender.

Generally, this assistance is reserved for unsecured debts, like cards and personal loans. Debt management is rarely suited for secured debts like mortgages and car finance.Debt management programs can have a bad impact on your credit. Any changes for a loans or credit card debts which have been negotiated by a debt management company could very well appear on your credit history, and might be looked on unfavorably by potential lenders. These marks on your credit history, however, are generally less significant when compared with missed or late payments, and definitely less harmful than credit card debt settlement or bankruptcy.

Having noticed online - Digital Advertising and marketing for Small ...

The world wide web has grown from a little network of academics needing an approach to trade study into a world-spanning, ubiquitous marketplace and repository for almost every single probable kind of info and understanding. How does a smaller organization avoid becoming washed away inside the constant tide of acquiring, selling and marketers hawking each conceivable item (and some complicated to conceive?)?

The internet provides advantages for both buyer and proprietor in that a single can look for precisely what is desired, with no the bother of endless telephone calls, driving to malls, or poring more than mail-order catalogs. A quick keyword or 3, and hundreds of outcomes vie for focus on the screen. Ensuring your firm is one of these outcomes near the top rated is usually a combination of aspects: specificity in item offerings, Search engine optimization of net content material and linking to and from related topics and internet sites.

The only strategy to get noticed on the internet will be to have a listing or presence, no matter whether a devoted site, advertisements on relevant web pages, or by word-of-mouth. Oftentimes ads on on-line journals, informative web-sites, or e-zines (online magazines) are more affordable than space inside a print publication, also as becoming out there to a wider audience than a dedicated internet site could be. Rates are typically available for each day, weekly, or monthly terms, growing flexibility and permitting a tight budget far more leeway. Word-of-mouth marketing is often quite inexpensive, but the returns could be challenging to quantify. Sponsoring internet shows which include podcasts or webcasts can be a great and affordable solution to achieve word-of-mouth exposure. Numerous occasions, a podcaster will likely be so thrilled to acquire sponsorship that rates is often negotiated for very tiny, but be sure to approach a podcaster that has a show connected somehow to your company. Do not overlook resources like Google?s Adwords either, as they are able to be slightly pricier than similar alternatives like banner advertisements, but they may be shown to be far far more productive than pop-ups, banners, or pay-per-click ads resulting from their particular targeting.

When a prospective customer decides to appear up a product which you sell, is he or she going to find your internet site or listing? Being precise within the terms utilised on your web-site or listing is crucial, as keyword phrases are what drive the search engines like Google and Yahoo. In case your firm sells shoes, it really is not adequate to put the word ?shoes? on your site?it has to be anticipatory for the searches that prospective consumers are carrying out. Most shoppers have an idea of what they may be seeking for when performing a search, so as opposed to ?shoes,? a consumer will search for ?imported Italian leather shoes.? Particular focusing of terminology and product listings are involved in Search engine optimization (Search engine marketing), as Seo is driven by particular search phrases and their repetition or location on a page. If the term ?Italian Leather Shoes? is employed 15 times on a web page, it?ll pop up increased on the rating listings than one particular with all the exact same words, but only as a page heading or title. It will be effortless to go overboard on this if it were the only criteria, however it is only certainly one of several distinct techniques search engines use to list internet websites by relevance. Our report on Search engine optimization, positioned here, is often a great reference to optimizing your web site for maximum Search Engine Efficiency.

Having a clear concept of where you wish to go with Net marketing, it might be a beneficial tool to expand your business in to the digital realm, but be careful not to go overboard, as all marketing and advertising ultimately crosses in to the zone of limited return. Clients are seeking for what they want?it?s up to you to ensure they run into you, and the only way they?re going to is for you personally to make sure your business is at the areas they may be going to go.

Arts and Entertainment ? Blog Archive ? Ideal Internet websites To ...

For the reason that conclusion of the semester rolls about, you don?t really need to uncover inexpensive college textbooks to rent or acquire, but in its place you?ll need to discover the top places to market utilised textbooks. That?s why I made a decision to perform a little research for the finest internet sites to market made use of textbooks. Now our review is not going to contain the campus bookstore mainly because of the actuality the bulk of your time it?s not necessarily the most beneficial place to market utilised textbooks. So rather of going on the bookstore my time was used studying internet sites. In all, the survey includes 15 distinctive web sites such as 12 in the premier online faculty textbook suppliers and a few of the most important on the net shops to find out that has the top web site to sell made use of textbooks. For this survey, I decided to employ ROBBINS Standard PATHOLOGY being a test e-book, as it was offered for buyback on each of the websites integrated within the survey.

Please notice when you seem over the outcomes from my survey that the most effective web page to offer applied textbooks on will vary determined by what utilised textbook you happen to be planning to sell. It can be almost certainly truly worth your when to complete your own private exploration to locate the ideal web site to market utilised textbooks on making use of the list of web sites presented.

The top 10 websites to promote applied textbooks online are as follows:

1. Campus E-book Rentals: $41.69

two. Textbooks R Us: $40.00

3. University Guide Renter: $39.00

four. Bunches of Guides: $38.70

five. Phat Campus: $37

six. Text Reserve Halt: $33.ninety

7. Book Byte: $32.25

8. Chegg: $31.17

nine. Valore Books: $25.ninety three

ten. eCampus: $15.00

Curiously plenty of, the preceding finest internet sites to promote utilised textbooks on modifications should you be prepared to just take retailer credit in its place of cash. Then the highest 10 positions to market used textbooks would really like this:

one. Textbooks R Us: Credit $44.00

2. Campus Reserve Rentals: $41.69

three. University E-book Renter: Credit score $40.20

four. Bunches of Books: $38.70

five. Chegg: Credit score $37.40

6. Phat Campus: $37.00

seven. Textbook Halt: $33.90

eight. Reserve Byte: $32.25

9. Valorebooks: $25.ninety three

10. eCampus: Credit score $18.00

The best ten websites to market utilized textbooks continue to be exactly the same, nonetheless they jockey for position. Campus Guide Rentals falls from 1st destination to second position, and Textbooks R Us arrives in first place. The greatest distinction was with Chegg who jumped 3 spots going from eighth spot to fifth spot, presenting you about 6 pounds in retail outlet credit score than they might in dollars back again. Now in case you are not serious about the moment gratification of having hard cash again or store credit in your utilised textbooks, you could need to choose alternate options like ebay, Amazon, or half.com. Despite the fact that you are not assured once your employed textbook is going to be obtained, you may finish up with a handful of additional dollars in your pocket. When you come to a decision to market applied textbooks in this way you could stop up observing results related to ours, we investigated just how much people were being advertising our examination reserve for the adhering to sites:

one. eBay: $55.00

2. Amazon: $49.97

3. 50 percent: $49.50

You will need to try to remember that if you market utilised textbooks as a result of these internet websites it indicates a whole lot a lot more operate and competitiveness, but if you would like to receive the most for your personal textbook these web sites could possibly be the best choice. Now for the most important losers, for you personally won?t be able to have winners devoid of some losers, they?re the web-sites that supplied us the least amount for our utilised higher education textbook:

1. eCampus: Credit score $18.00, check/Direct Deposit: $15.00

2. Barnes & Noble: $12.fifty

3. E book Renter: Credit score $11.64, test $9.70

I hope you come across this research helpful when it?s important to choose which web sites to try fist and which ones to avoid the next time you will be looking for that most effective locations to market utilized textbooks. In my opinion the most effective option is Campus E book Rentals providing you $41.sixty nine cash back again, not bad considering that you can purchase the reserve for about $50, so you can be looking at a total cost of close to $10 for the semester.

Most of your web-sites bundled in this survey have free shipping, but when you begin doing your own personal study make sure to check out and see if free shipping is made available, as this additional cost can throw off your effects.

Me and my husband have been married almost 7 months now. Prior to us getting married we had a very rocky relationship. It seemed to consist of a lot of on again off again drama. I can honestly say when we were "off," he was all I thought about and really would have a hard time coping with being without him. Everytime we did have a break up I always thought it was the end and I would basically cry to my friends (not literally) about how hurt I was and they would always tell me, "you guys will get back together", and we always did. We realized that even though we had our differences, we didn't like being apart, and we decided to get married. I'd say the first 2 months were pretty nice, although I don't quite remember us ever going through the "honeymooning stage," where everything was picture perfect and we couldn't keep our hands off of each other. We got along pretty well though, and we were happy. Well needless to say, around the 3rd month we were back to our old ways again. I can't even tell you how many times the word divorce has come up. Right now we are separated, and I'm hurting. He says he's done, and I don't want to believe him. To make matters even more complicated, I just found out I am pregnant. He's not happy about it. I really don't know what I am supposed to do. I want my marriage, and I love my husband, and I definitely plan on having our baby, but I just hate all of this off and on crap. I also don't want him to think I'm continuing this pregnancy to keep him in my life. I am prepared to be a single parent if that's what happens, but I surely don't want that. So I guess my question is, is it normal to go through these ups and downs in a marriage, or did we just make a foolish mistake going through with this in the first place. I know it seems immature, but this is how our relationship goes. I would like things to be more stable, especially now that we're bring a child into the world. Any suggestions.

PFT: Jags DL arrested for outstanding traffic tickets

At a time then some in the media would wag their fingers at players who try to get more money for the risks they assume, here?s another example of why players should get what they can, when they can, however they can.

Former Packers cornerback Craig Newsome battled through a variety of serious and less-serious-but-still nasty injuries during his career, emerging with an addiction to painkillers.

?You?d get on the plane and they?re handing out beer and pills,? Newsome tells Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.? ?It?s like, ?OK, party time.?? Really.? Every player that is either asking for them or says, ?This is hurting.?? It?s like ?OK, here?s a bag of them.??

Dunne chronicles the various scars on Newsome?s body.? He has tiger-claw scars on his chest from Jerry Rice?s cleat, which got under Newsome?s shoulder pads.? He has a scar on each knee ? one from a torn ACL in 1997 and one from hitting the turf so hard in 1998 that he could see bone.

The worst comes from a trio of ?trashed? discs in his back, which sparked an addiction that spawned doctor-shopping and ultimately forged prescriptions.

?You know it?s completely wrong what you?re doing,? Newsome said of his efforts to get more and more pills.? ?But it?s telling you, ?Do it, do it, do it.?? You need it.? ?Get it, get it, get it.?? It?s like, ?OK, [expletive] it.?? Then you walk in there and you?re on pins and needles.? You?re watching him and seeing if he?s going to get it.? You just want to get in and get out.

?Freaking get out of Dodge and have your little stash.? It?s the same old routine.?

And it?s the same old routine for many other former players.? With head injuries becoming the focal point when it comes to the men who made the game what it now is, it?s important to remember that plenty of them have a far wider range of afflictions.

Yes, they signed up for it.? Yes, they gladly assumed the risk.? Yes, they would do it again.

But it underscores the fact that any of the current players who can put the squeeze on their teams and get paid should do it, any way they can.

'Weed Dating' Seeks To Spark Romance For Farming Singles

BOISE, Idaho ? For one night a year, a neighborhood farm in northwest Boise turns into a respite for singles who are tired of the same old dating scene.

A poster board planted at the entrance of Earthly Delights Farm in late June advertised "Weed Dating," with a heart-stamped arrow guiding visitors to a sign-in table, where they were each assigned a number and invited to sample beer provided by a local brewer.

The farm is among a handful across the country offering an unconventional form of speed dating. Typically, speed daters meet at a bar or restaurant and switch conversational partners every few minutes, in hopes of finding someone compatible. With weed dating, this rapid-fire courtship takes place on the farm, with singles working together in the fields.

The payoff for their toil? A chance at romance.

Joe Peraino, 27, met his previous girlfriend while weed dating at the Boise farm last year. They were together for nine months and found that few others couples could top their account of how they met, said Peraino, who has since relocated to South Carolina.

"It's a pretty fun story, because it's not like a known thing, weed dating. A lot of people are like, `So, were you on a pot farm?'"

Casey O'Leary, 33, owns the Earthly Delights Farm and first heard of the idea from a farm in Vermont. Farms in states that include Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio have also advertised similar weed dating events. O'Leary organized her first weed dating last year for about 20 people, including some friends and interns on her farm.

More than 40 men and women showed up for this year's weed dating.

"I feel bad if we don't have the right people for the right people," O'Leary said before addressing the crowd. "We're all weirdos, in general, people, we're all weirdos right? So like, it's just a matter of if the right weirdos show up."

In her role as matchmaker, O'Leary shook a small tambourine to catch everyone's attention and reassured those who had already started to eye each another that everybody would be paired up with everybody over the course of the evening.

With ages ranging from early 20s to early 50s, O'Leary also provided a small disclaimer.

"Obviously, there are some matches that probably are not appropriate, age-wise, and that's OK," she said. "We're all adults, so just have a good time."

Here's how it works: Each of the ladies will be assigned to a specific row, with more instructions to follow after "we get you into the beds," O'Leary said, prompting nervous snickers that erupted into laughter as the tension eased. The women were given a crash course in how to identify a weed versus a vegetable or fruit, and then instructed to pass that information along to the men, who rotated from each bed every three minutes.

"Please don't pull out our crops. This is a working farm," O'Leary said before sending them off.

With the dating in full swing, O'Leary moved between the neat rows of lettuce, strawberries, eggplant, zucchini and tomatoes. She said she likes the idea of helping gardeners and people with similar interests find each other. But seeing people weed her farm is also nice.

"I'm not a hookup coach, I'm a farmer," O'Leary said, her sinewy hands and dirt-incrusted fingernails proving her point.

Amy Johnson, 29, a Spanish elementary school teacher, heard about the event last year but couldn't make it.

"It's one of those life experiences that I might not always be able to get so why not take advantage of it this year?" Johnson said. "I'm not much into dating, like speed dating or like, online dating. But it's always fun to meet new people."

Weeding is actually one her favorite activities, she said, adding: "Last year I was joking that if I would have weeded with my ex-boyfriend, we probably would have never gotten together ... He was not a very good weeder."

Brian Cox, a 47-year-old artist and musician, came looking for a new way to meet people.

"The typical speed dating, it's just kind of awkward," Cox said. "But this is just beautiful, because it's like outside, it's very organic. Literally."

Joe DeGano, 46, a sales and marketing manager for a company that manufactures clutch components for motorcycles, said he was there "to meet chicks, to fall in love."

But for the more-reserved, the farm provided numbered mason jars that corresponded with the numbers assigned to each participant, just in case any of the weed daters were too shy to approach someone directly and wanted to instead leave a note.

That was how Peraino, an intern at the farm last year, communicated with a woman named Jenn at last year's event.

He described himself as somewhat shy, but at weed dating he found himself surrounded by people with similar interests. There were activists, gardeners, and outdoor enthusiasts.

"What I find is if you go to bars, you don't really know what people's interests are," he said. "You can't really walk into a bar and complain about climate change or peak oil without having people look at you weird. That would probably scare off a lot of people."
